What to ExpectOnline CounsellingAlliance Counselling and Assessment provides online and over-the-phone appointments. At the time of booking, you may request for an online or over-the-phone session with one of our counsellors. During an online session, counsellors will work with you through presenting issues, much like during in-person sessions. Approximately 15 minutes before the start of your scheduled appointment, you will receive a link to join the session via an online platform (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.). Please indicate to your counsellor which program you feel most comfortable using. If you run into any issues with the system, such as problems entering the session, you can inform your counsellor by giving them a call or sending an email, at that time, they will work to fix the issue or find an alternative means of conducting the appointment. For clients that opt to attend their appointments via phone, the therapist will call at the time of the scheduled appointment. |
What to ExpectIn-Person CounsellingAlliance Counselling and Assessments provides in-person services. At the time of your appointment, you will be greeted by your counsellor and invited to join them to complete your session in a private, secure room within our office. As you wait for your session to begin, you can relax in our comfortable waiting area, equipped with reading materials and toys for our younger clientele. |
What to ExpectAssessmentsAlliance Counselling and Assessment has a team of highly trained examiners that are equipped with the knowledge to conduct several psychological and behavioural assessments for individuals of all ages. During an assessment, individuals will undergo a series of steps including a background interview, a battery of tests based on the perceived area of concern, intermittent feedback sessions, and a final overview appointment. For assessments involving minors, parents and teachers are often asked to complete questionnaires and interviews, to render a more comprehensive picture of the situation. Helpful documents such as report cards and previously completed assessment reports may also be required. Approximately 30 days following the start of assessment appointments, the examiner will provide the client with a complete report including summaries of tests administered, diagnoses, and recommendations. Examiners at Alliance remain involved throughout the whole process and even following the final report send-off by advocating for resources to be put in place for the clients that are served. Whether you are interested in undergoing tests to find means of coping, implement resources at school or work, or just get a better understanding of a situation, we are here to help! |
